Title: Thinking About A New Pit
Post by: SmokinHandyman on February 05, 2018, 01:56:47 PM
Looked at a Traeger Pro 22 and a Louisiana LG 700.
Both the same price. I like them both, thinking about the Louisiana.
I now have a Traeger Jr Elite now.

Any thoughts or input would be helpful on my purchase.

I had a traeger for my first pit. While it was nice & it cooked a lot of really fine meals. It lacked in features that are now offered in so many other pits. It was a GR8 basic pit! I've also owned a few GMG's & still have a GMG DC.

I was looking at the CS450 & found that they are no longer available in the U.S. So I was going to buy a LG700 which basically is the same pit. I called a dealer about 70 miles away, He also had an 800 series Elite for $100.00 more than the LG. Which as of last Saturday is now on My patio!

So far I'm liking what I see in the Louisiana, Grease drawer vs a bucket. I've already put an aluminum pan in it for easy cleaning, I haven't tried the flame zone on it yet, Looking forward to some reverse sear steaks. I also like the multi ports for the exhaust vs the stack.

Clean out the grease in those pans before cranking up the heat really high to cook.

I own a Traeger Pro 22 and I love it!  It holds temp well, puts out sweet smoke and most importantly produces great food.  Any specific questions, I'll gladly answer.

The Louisiana is somewhat of an older cousin to the Memphis.
