Hard to believe I used to cook on one of these.
About the only thing was hot dogs, hamburgers & chicken.
Looks like hot dogs were on the menu that night.

Oh man, those were the days buddy!! So, how would you compare that beauty to your Memphis?
-
You have come up in the world Al!!!

I am assuming that is April of 2003? I had my Traeger for about 6 months by this time...Had just taken the UDS, hibachi, and Smoky Joe to the recycle place!

If that’s accurate on the timeline, I was maybe 3-4 years into my Weber Genesis Silver A that I just sold to a happy buyer about a year ago. I hadn’t even found a propane smoker yet and was just grilling steaks, burgers, brats, etc. calling it BBQ. I thought the $399 i spent on the Weber was insane at that time. Got about 15-20 years and $80 out of it though and now I’m justifying a Memphis. Boy how times changed :).
I had a lot less gravitational pull then too, loll.

Didn't know for sure if that was you in the photo or not, Al.
Then I spotted the gap in the front teeth. .
Yup it's you
You've come a long way, Comrade!

And to me it was and still is...Now an organization like KCBS will say no, it has to be cooked with wood, but that is their definition. Look it up on Webster's, or Dictionary.com or other sites that do definitions and you will find that some say what you did is BBQ. A lot of talk about hearth's...Others will say it is open hearth or outdoor cooking and some will say over an open fire...Does that unit have an open fire? I guess that requires one to delves in even further then I care to go right now.

Keep on cooking regardless of the heat source! Your skills have advanced as much as the cooker, keep it up.
