We will have the drawing tomorrow, Monday, April 9 at Noon. I will post the results, here, a minute or two thereafter.
-
And the winner is...Please send Kristin your name and address so we can get it out to you!
-
No 64 -- ruebenray!!! Congrats and I hope you enjoy the pit
-
Congrats and have fun with it!
-
Great job and congratulations “RRâ€. Thanks to Bentley and Kristin for the hard work and everyone else for helping make these possible.
-
Congrats!
Thanks again to Bently for the review. I’m considering adding one of these to the deck now.
-
Congrats ruebenray....
Now, I wonder how long it will be before the $400 burns a whole in my pocket into a Walmart cash register... If I could hold off till late fall, maybe I could get one for $300 :) Oh my this really was a review that I almost wish I hadn't seen. I need spend $400 another smoker, like I need a hole in my head.

WHAT!!!!
I cannot believe this. I have been at the Chattanooga Aquarium all day and forgot about the drawing. My wife squealed when I told her. She is already making a list of what she wants smoked. The top of the list is jerky and fish.
Thanks, thanks,thanks.
I will send the info to Kristin.

I am very happy for you both! I wish you were still in this area...and I will try and get it cleaned and packed this week. There were very light snow flurries this morning...It is now officially getting ridicules. Just gray and nasty today and I cannot get motivated to clean, much less disassemble!
-
Congrats reubenray. I hope you enjoy it and post lots more pics.

Don't rush to get this done Bentley. I won't be home for another 10 days (April 18th) and I leave again on April 27th for 16 nights.
-
Congratulations reubenray..Enjoy your new smoker.
-
Congratulations reubanray! It looks like I am going to have to buy mine. :rotf:
-
congratulations and enjoy the new :bbq:
-
Concerning the poll, before the reviews I was not interested in getting a new pit at all and I was moderately interested in the uni pizza oven. Because of the reviews, I am no longer interested in the pellet fueled pizza oven and I will be buying one of these Pit Boss smokers this week. Thanks for doing the reviews Bentley and Kristin.
-
Congrats ruebenray.
And a big thanks to Bentley and Kristin for the thorough review.
Using raffles to fund product reviews seems to be working out great. Hope to see more in the future.

You all are very welcome! But what an interesting community that is willing to fund this stuff so all can have knowledge!

This concept might be a marriage saver for me. I won't have to buy every gadget to try myself.
-
Congratulations.
-
Congratulations on the win, I will have to buy mine also.
What are we testing/reviewing next?
-
Congrats on the win! Wife is interested in this unit so there is a chance I might end up with one...heh
-
Congrats!!!  :bbq:

What are we testing/reviewing next?
We need to put the testing on a slow, low flame for a while. We have a LOT of outside work that needs to be done. We have about 3 to 4 cords of wood that needs to be split and stacked, another 3 to 4 cords that needs to be chopped down and processed, about 10 trees to plant and about the same number of shrubs. Everything needs a new layer of mulch (and that is a bunch of mulch), need to spray glyphosate around a lot of places and by that time, mowing season will have started. We also need to string berry lines, transplant berry bushes and plant the veggie garden. Bent has also promised to help me in the Master Gardeners Pollinator Garden -- he needs to move gravel for me and we need to refresh pathways and spray.
There are also some product reviews, like gloves, that need to be done in and we have a Smoke Pro from Camp Chef that needs a performance evaluation.
So member funded reviews may be on hold for a while. However, we would love to see some members step up and review some of the products (not pits) that you are using. Also would like to see more member reviews of sauces, rubs and marinades. A lot of you folks have good insight and talent and you should share your knowledge with the group.

Bentley I want to thank you and Kristin for what I have won. I never thought in a million years I would win this. My neighborhood is all wanting to know when I will be smoking something for them to eat. Please do not delete the thread where you was doing the testing. I will have to reread this several times to figure what shelves to smoke what.
-
Thank the membership -- it was you all's idea, you all decided what to purchase, you all funded this. Has to be a very unique situation, fitting for a unique group of people!!!
-
I have been on the receiving end of giveaways on several sites. Fire arms, a pellet smoker, and misc. stuff. I normally forward on to another 'winner' as I got enough stuff as is. I give stuff away when I can as it's always come back to me in other ways that I can't explain. Karma, I guess. Not that I expect anything in return.
This example fits quite well in my philosophy. We had a LOT of members contribute with the hope of winning, and NONE of them were dissatisfied with the outcome. Everyone wins! As far as I'm concerned, the testing was well worth the entry fee.
Thank you Meredith's for doing this. It goes beyond what many would do, and it's greatly appreciated.
-
I tried to watch the YouTube of the drawing, but it has been deleted. Is it gone forever?
-
I just figured once a few had seen it could be deleted. It was like 24 seconds and I had no idea any one would care, sorry!
-
All I can say is another success of many to come!
-
Fair enough, we will leave it! Looking forward to your cooks on it. As Kristin said, you have your fellow Members to thank for it!
Please do not delete the thread where you was doing the testing.
-
Congrats, reubenray! It's so good to see it go to someone who is excited to use it!
-
Thanks everyone for the congratulation.
I have downloaded the manual to get a head start of using it when I get back home.
-
Congrats ruebenray!! Will it go in the motor home or stay at the house?
-
Congrats RR/ Thank you Bentley and Kristin for the testing. because of your hard work we are all winners here.
-
I feel bad for all those in that number range except the winner. Those second tickets sold all within a few minutes of each other. Several people missed it by minutes and seconds.
-
Congrats ruebenray!! Will it go in the motor home or stay at the house?
It will stay at the house along side the GMG Daniel Boone. I will need to get a cover for it. My wife and I went by a Walmart today in Chattanoogo to see if they had one for her to look at, but they did not.
-
Congratulations, reubenray

Only 1 of the 5 Walmarts I went to in San Antonio had one put together. The one I could actually look at was sitting on a shelf that was 42" to 48" above the floor. They got me a ladder so I could look down into the bottom of the grill where the water pan and fire pot is. ;)

No. It was before the raffle ended so I was still hoping to win the raffle.

Congrats!
This and the test thread have been one of the best to follow in years, in my opinion.
I loved it and checked PF multiple times per day to see the latest updates, comments, graphs and cooks.
Thanks to all
-
I voted no, but look at what is in my truck.

Actually bought it for my guys at work. Now we can smoke at work.
-
With so many buying this there may need to be a separate thread on how to or what to smoke on it?
-
There is a section for Dansons/Pit Boss smokers, so you folks can post threads in that section
-
A Big +1 on that

Assembly was pretty easy

Yours impressions of the sturdiness of the Legs?
-
After the bracing, very impressed. It really is a pretty solid unit. The legs are more sturdy than my old Traeger Texas for sure. The gentlemen that helped me put it together has one of the American made Traeger’s and he was very impressed with the unit. I think he will be getting one for himself.
-
Congratulations reubanray! It looks like I am going to have to buy mine. :rotf:
I stayed true to my vote.

Dear Pit Boss/Dansons/Any Manufacture,
Please take note that...
...product reviews might not be a bad idea.

You would think that they would be knocking down your door, doesn't make any sense to me at all?
-
I even told them it was because of a product review here that I was buying one when asking when the racks would be available for sale.
