Title: End of summer pricing?
Post by: RichW on September 11, 2017, 07:36:19 PM
At a Costco today I checked brisket pricing for the prime whole briskets and was shocked to see $2.79 /  lb. on full large slabs that mostly weighed in the upper teens and a few over 20 lbs.  I guess this goes hand in hand with the Traeger grill inventory which is now at "0."  Just last week I did a sub 16 lb. brisket that cost $3.79 / lb.  I wish I could have waited buy needed to replenish my freezer.

Same in our area - I've not seen anything better than the Costco price for prime packers. They sometimes go down to as low as $2.38 in our area.

If I could get that price it simply would be my ground beef for a couple of weeks!

It really is a good price, so I'm hoping it continues. Frankly I'm surprised the price has lasted so long.  I like using reasonably good cuts for ground beef because my wife like burgers more than a steak. Her favorite is ground tri-tip followed closely by brisket, and then chuck.  I never purchase any of these unless the price is less than $3/lb.

My freezers are now full, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these prices continue.
