Not into this stuff, cuz I am always wrong so I won't subject you to telling me how many, just ask you to verify if my guess is right and if not, tell me where i went wrong.
I see 13. And I will tell you how. *See next post. Don't look if you want to do it yourself, I guess that is assuming I am right!

*So we know (?) 1 through 9 are triangles (=9), then we have the image as a whole (=10)...here is where it gets dicy for me...is 1,2,3 & 4 also one, 2, 5, 6 & 7 and 4, 7, 8, & 9 also (=13)?

That is the way I see it.
Some of these things can really get you seeing fuzzy.
-
My guess would be 13
Triangles 1 through 9 make a triangle = 10
1+2+3+4 = 11 total triangles
2+5+6+7=12
4+7+8+9=13

Yeah, 13. I almost said 10, then saw the other 3.
-
13 unique, if you allow some overlap of the three medium sized ones.
-
I see 13.
-
What if you counted 3-6&8 even though they are upside down?
-
I'd run with 13 also..
..................

I thought this was a BBQ site not geometry class :help:
-
I said 10 but stand corrected.
-
Definite 13
