Title: What's the Super Bowl Menu?
Post by: Bentley on January 30, 2020, 05:45:09 PM
Looks like it will be fried wings, loaded potato skins, French dip, Pico de gallo/Guacamole Hybrid and chips.  Practicing the Skins tonight, so hope to have some pictures.

Will scoop out most of potato, then deep fry, fill with bacon & cheese, put under broiler, then finish with Scallons and sour cream!  Good quality, healthy dinner!

I been asked to make BBQ beef so I picked up a chuck roll. Will fabricate it into chuck eye steaks, sierra, and Denver steaks to freeze. The rest will be cut into chuck roasts for the BBQ beef.

My wife is going to make Guinness Beef Pot Pie which seems like a pot roast then baked in a puff pastry after reading the recipe she had from some magazine.

They were OK, nothing to write home about.  Never enough seasoning for me.  I am either to lite or I ruin the dish for others with the amounts I use.  I would also use a "flavored" sour cream next time.  Maybe Lipton Onion soup time!  And I think I would do as the bars do and leave the sour cream in a separate dipping dish!  Good practice for the future, but not sure they are worth making foe SB!

Bentley, try mixing some chunky salsa with the bacon and cheese mixture before putting it in the broiler. This is how Applebees' used to make their Baja Potato Boats when I worked there 25 years ago, and I still make them that way today!  :lick:

I can lift a drink or two though...

That's the most important part!

Not sure what I want to cook.  Guess I need to ask the girls.

Tri tip, chili beans, cornbread, Atomic Buffalo Turds, Tator salad. Chips and dips and some Michelob Ultra to offset the carbs, lol.

Probably nothing too exotic for Sunday.  Going down to Philly with a bunch of friends to watch a couple college basketball games and hang in the city on Saturday/Saturday night, and I leave for Tokyo on Monday morning for the balance of the week.  Probably going to keep it easy and quiet on Sunday.  However, going to keep an eye on this thread to get jealous of all the great cooks.  Enjoy.

Cajun seafood boil.  Sausage, fingerling potatoes, corn (rotten time of year for it,) muscles, white shrimp, and three dungeness crab.    Kids will make a Red Lobster recipe for cheese biscuits.

I think I'll do some ribs.

Maybe some wings as well. Smoke um on the Blazen, then crisp up the skin with my wife's new toy. Airfryer.

Cold beer with chips and salsa.  Grilled "tandoori" chicken,  potatoes with achari masala and mixed vegetable kolhapuri.  I forgot the game was today.  Yea, I'm learning Indian recipes.

Yesterday I put a few drumsticks on the grill and a London Broil for Italian Beef. Drove to Chicago this afternoon to watch the game with my son. Picked up the bread and giardiniera at a market once I got to the Windy City. However, I had a 2 1/2 lb roast, but ended up with only enough meat for one sandwich!!

That's an awesome sandwich.  Looks like the one from an episode in the TV sitcom Wings.

It has been a while (years) since I did a Fatty for Super Bowl !!  Last minute Philly Cheese Steak.
All went well but the controller a couple times showed "ouL" in the display. Fatty turned out good....
could have used more provolone for me !!!

Heard from Green Mountain Grills on Super Bowl Sunday that the code is the combustion fan shutting
down. Continued working throughout the cook so have to check it out some more. Again, great customer
support from Green Mountain Grills on a 2013 grill !!!  Did take a few pictures !!

So you cooked the Stuffie, then you basically turned it into a Stromboli...Sweet.

My thoughts exactly.  I wish they would document how they did that in the How To section.
