Having intermittent issues with the website this morning.
Get this message:
Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
-
I had it a few times yesterday.
-
I just now got on -- no problem.
-
I have not.
-
Yesterday AM several times. So far, today is OK.
-
Seems to have cleared up for me, but now when I click a page or thread, the browser will say "connecting..." for a second or two before displaying the page or thread.
Apparently the Server is having some performance issues.
-
about an hour ago it was rather consistent, seems resolved now.

I got this for the first time earlier today. I was able to get on OK when I tried a little later.

Looks like the forum is hosted on a Sun Solaris server. Sun is now owned by Oracle.
-
Just having this happen to me for the 1st time. On chat with HostGator trying to get an answer about what it is,
-
Just happened to me. Retry worked OK.

Just some notes for Adam...
Here's what I got:

Yes, your domain's DNS records are pointed to Hostgator as shown here:
http://leafdns.com/index.cgi?testid=74A7796D
That error message you are getting- It's due to either too many connections on the server or incorrectly set details in your Settings.php
HostGator allows a maximum of 25 simultaneous MySQL connections per cPanel. If you exceed this limit, you will receive a max_user_connections error. Typically, either your site has too much traffic for the shared server, or your site may be under attack.
Typically, either your site has too much traffic for the shared server, or your site may be under attack. It is your responsibility to fix this by updating your web framework to the newest version, optimizing/indexing databases, or upgrading to a VPS or Dedicated server.
To fix this, simply optimize your mysql database and here's a link to guide you:
https://www.hostgator.com/help/article/optimize-mysql-resource-usage
No, its referring to MySQL connections not visit.
HostGator does not impose any limits on the number of visitors your website can receive. Allow visit per day is 7,000 - 8,000.
That would be great! Here are some reference you can share with your IT for more info:

Hope I was able to provide the best support today regarding database concern. Aside from this, is there anything else I can brighten your day with?

Same issue for the last 15 minutes. Hostgator today admitted it was an issue on their end...Hope I have not tied us into a sinking ship for 3 years. That would be par for the course!
-
Yeah, we hope that, too. I think it's worse today.
-
It's OK Bent. I can swim.
-
twice yesterday and 3 times today I got that
-
Sorry for the delayed response but when I saw the email from Bentley I had a strong suspicion it was a hosting issue. Hopefully, they can resolve it.
-
Back again today...
Took 5 minutes trying to post a reply to a thread.
-
I got it about 5x this morning.
-
Same here, it’s always in the morning and most times it is fine on the main page but if we try to go to a thread then it misbehaves.
-
I got this message about 10x about 10 minutes ago.
-
No problem here.
-
I had it a couple times 4 or 5 days ago, but not since.
-
I get it regularly today. It's annoying because I'm short on time.
-
It has not happened to me for months!
-
I get it every now and then. In fact got it today IMO no big deal I just retry
-
Getting it this morning. Three times when trying to open this thread.

happened to me again this morning too
-
Overall it has not been a problem. Got it several different times for the first time today. If I hit refresh the site would come back most of the time, but not always. I have had some issues with staying connected online, so it could be from my end.
-
Happened a half dozen times just now.
-
Yes, It's happening repeatedly. So often that I'm wondering why I wasted my opportunity to post by posting this one.
-
I am sorry that it is happening! I am not experiencing it and have not for weeks if not months. I would go ask HostGator, but am not sure what I would tell them. I am using Chrome, can you that are experiencing it tell me what type of viewing device you are looking at the site on and what browser you are using?
I am never on the site with my phone, is it a phone issue? I obviously do not use Taptalk, is it happening on that platform? If I can get some data on what platforms it is acting up on, maybe I could ask Adam to look and see if we need some type of upgrade.
-
I'm using Apple Safari. It isn't happening now.
-
I am using Brave Nightly that it has happened on and was using Pale Moon that it happened with also.
Don't use Chrome, so can't say if it would happen.
It's a pig and wears out your hard drive (especially Solid State Disks) with the constant writing to it with every window you have open.
-
I use Chrome and had the issue a week or so ago.
