Title: Inauguration Question
Post by: Kristin Meredith on January 21, 2021, 10:22:46 PM
Just read this in an article about the White House and the transition:  "If you were the Bidens, what would you want the White House chef to make you for your celebratory inaugural dinner?"  Ah, a classical trained chef and staff at my disposal!!!  What do I want?

For me, I have to start with dessert.  The pastry chef needs to make me a luscious, decadent chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache in there someplace.

Really hard to make a decision on dinner.  I think I would ask for them to create me a green salad with some special things thrown it at their choosing -- berries, fruit, nuts, cheese, etc.  Something to make it special.  Then I would have to quiz them on whether they could make a for real chicken fried steak.  If so, I would go with that and mashed potatoes.  If not, Chicken Kiev and rice.

What about you all?

French onion soup
Blue cheese and bacon lettuce wedge salad with diced tomatoes and onions
NY Strip Steak
Sauteed green beans
Twice baked potato

And, that chocolate decadence cake sounds like a winner for dessert.

I'd probably be exhausted, so a couple slices of pizza and go to bed.

I think beef stroganoff over wide noodles and a bottle of Angelo Gaja's red.  I'd let the chef select the appropriate salad and dessert (as long as the dessert had chocolate and mated well with the wine).  Maybe add a glass of Trentadue Port.

I would have had a whole hog smoking during the inauguration! Then it would be time to get to business after I got sworn in. Right to the pit for some good old Eastern NC style pig pickin

This is perfect.
The White House has some of the best chefs in the nation and I love good French onion soup, around me it’s impossible to find. I’m sure the NY strip would be a perfect mid rare, and it’s my favorite cut. Green beans with a touch of garlic and finished with almond slivers.

Lew seriously hit my perfect luxury dinner.
