Have two Jasmine bushes that are in full bloom. The scent is heavenly!

Seems I can hardly find chicken wings anymore. You would think there are equal parts from every bird but no luck at the usual grocery spots. So decided to do a batch of chicken legs instead.
Rubbed with a mixture of Smokin' Guns Sweet Heat and Wee Willy's #2.
On the grill.

Smoked for 1 hour at 190° then turned it up to 400° for about 20 minutes per side. Sauced with 5 minutes left to set the sauce.

Served these last Sunday for Mother's Day when we had our daughter and family over for lunch. They were a big hit. Will serve them again!
Thanks for watching,
Al

Sauce was Wee Willy's Original. He was a MN BBQ comp guy who won the Jack Daniels back in 2002. It is a good sauce and his rubs are good. You can find them online at this link: https://www.weewillys.com/

Those look tasty!
I bought a couple packages of boneless/skinless thighs the other day, and there were packages of wings next to them.
-
We had the same problem over Mother's Day weekend. My son now has a pellet grill and said he would bring wings. There were none to be found, so he brought drumsticks instead. They were great, but it does seem strange that no wings were available. There must be a good conspiracy theory here somewhere!

Guess there's not many BBQers in New Mexico. :o

I don't believe that I've ever done chicken wings therefore I don't miss them. I've never been able to understand the fascination with chicken wings, they have way more bone than meat, drum sticks are a much better buy and taste better IMHO. ???

+1
The only logical explanation for their popularity I can think of, is—for bar food, they're a one-bite deal with no risk of face-mess.

I'm with ya all the way, Al.
Chicken legs are way ahead of wings.
And Wee Willly's sauce compliments the pelletgrilled chicken legs very well.
It's mega-thankx to you for sending me a bottle awhile back.

OK, so it is not just a Mayberry and surrounding countryside issue. That is good to know. I guess bars & restaurants are gearing up and this is the end result for a few months!

can still find wings around here, but they are expensive. Chicken in general has gone way up. I bought a case of boneless skinless breasts the begining of April they were $62 last week they were $84 wings were $138 a case.
-
40lb. case? If so, $3.45/lb is stiff for a volume buy!
-
I can report this based on information from my brother who owns a BBQ business. He can not procure jumbo party wings at all. That is what he used to sell. He found 2 40# cases of regular wings this past week that were ~$4/#.
I am pretty sure he is going to abandon taking the time to procure wings for the next month or two because at those prices he feels he can not make money charging his customers a fair price and doesn't want to spend the time attempting to procure them from multiple sources to keep the item on the menu.
There have been many stories on the internet in the last month plus about the scarcity of chicken products. The claim in those stories has been that the freezing weather in the deep south during the winter has crippled the chicken crop. That combined with the fast food chain chicken sandwich wars has lead to a general chicken shortage throughout the country. This has caused scarcity and/or significantly increased prices for chicken products across the country that many people believe will not be resolved for six plus months.
-
I know a few that have trucks also, they are saying the price of fry oil had close to tripled in the last month or so.
-
Ahh, the wonderful benefits of shutting down an entire economy.

I read recently that chickens prices are going up due to short supply and they're placing some of the blame on Tyson. They started using a type of rooster that was apparently on the shy side or as they put it did not meet expectations. The other reason for short supply is that almost every fast food restaurant out there now has a chicken sandwich on the menu.
