Where does it all end.  We have a lady in our neighborhood who is now complaining about fire pits and their smoke.  I am thinking of getting one of those big barrel smokers fill it with oak wood and cook a whole hog and let her put that in her pipe and smoke it.

See, a huge reason why I don't use charcoal!

Thanks for posting the interesting article. The article presents an issue of concern to the author and suggests alternatives and remediation's for more environmentally sensitive grilling. As such, I would not consider it an attack or a don't grill article. Of course that IS a pretty influential website that published the article. I'm going to check out those coconut shell briquets.

The charcoal described is not "lump" charcoal that is simply made by burning wood in an extremely low to no oxygen environment .

The "briquets" the article refers to, range from good briquets composed of lump charcoal dust, a by product of lump manufacturing, and a starch binder to retain their formed shape; to the ones composed of

several substances such as coal dust, sawdust derived from ?, chemicals that promote ignition, lime that helps retain shape, the list goes on.

There are cost, performance and ignition differences as well.

Well there went grilling and chilling.
Somebody stop this nonsense please.
Wait until someone says, no “next thing” Sheesh.
Reminds me of a great song….AC/DC. Can you guess the song?
