Title: Low country boil
Post by: yorkdude on February 17, 2022, 03:54:17 PM
Our son is getting married mid May, we have been tasked with pulled pork for the rehearsal dinner of 40-45 people. They want us to do a “low country boil” for the wedding and they are expecting 200-250. We have a few friends that do crawfish boils to lean on for help. The problem is this, we need to have food ready for that amount of people in 1 shot. Typical boil pot/turkey fryer set-ups are 30 quart, based on amount of food etc it will be a disaster with 10-15 all “rumbling” all at once. So surfing I found 80 qt. set-ups from “webrestaurantstore”. Does anyone have either pros or cons about them? Thanks in advance, supply chains being what they are I dang sure dont want to be “that guy”.

I've bought from them many times and have no complaints.

I buy from them now and then, really only drawback is the shipping/freight charges are on the high side.
I questioned if I could pick up items as they have a distribution center 45 minutes away, they said I could not.

I don't know how much the 80qt is, here is a 160 pot and they have a burner listed.

And a 100qt.

I know there are people that don't like to buy from amazon but in case. Check the cost and freight from webrestaurant and compare maybe.

Sound like lots of work and even more happy people.

+1  -- However,  never had to deal with customer service so can't give any info on that.
Also, agree with Dave, shipping costs are high.
But for the most part, anything you buy should last a long long time. So that helps justify the shipping expense.

I would swear that my neighbor when I lived in Memphis threw the crawfish in a large cooler and dumped boiling water in the cooler and cooked them that way.  May be something worthwhile googling.

Are you doing all the other foods in a boil, e.g. potatoes,  corn,  sausage

It will consist of shrimp, mussels, sausage, cob corn, potatoes and the typical boil spices.

Hope it works, I was curious if you went with that or the 160 pot and burner.

All of this is stirring up my Southern appetite..I'll mis the food and the people that gathered to enjoy it.
