Title: Kauai Meat Prices
Post by: Kristin Meredith on January 25, 2023, 11:29:21 AM
We rented a car on Kauai and decided to stop in a Safeway for a few things for a picnic.  I snapped a few pics of meat prices.  Was surprised at some of them, basically the same as here in Culpeper, Va.

$5.99/lb for boneless Chuck & $2.99 for BB seemed cheap to me on a little Island.  $3.29 for drumsticks seemed about right!

Everything except for bacon looked about price of meat here or closer than I would have expected.  On the flip side, I would have thought the fruit would have been cheaper assuming it would have been grown there.

When we rented a condo in Kauai a few years back we went to the grocery store to stock up on some things and I too was surprised by the meat prices, which were very much in line with what we see here at home.    I echo that the fruits and vegetables were what surprised me, I paid close to $10 for a locally grown pineapple and I can routinely buy them here for less than $3.   Loved Kauai, favorite place I’ve ever visited.
