Well, I've been perusing craigslist again. I found a True Refrigeration GMD-07 for $75. The owner indicated that it was in good shape, but I was a bit skeptical. When I picked it up, they plugged it in for me... it seemed to start to get cold, so I paid for it and loaded it up.
Once home I plugged it in... oh my, what is that loud noise coming from it??? Well , I determined the noise was a fan near the condenser. Looked up a replacement fan, one I found wes $250... oh my. Eventually I found one for $75, about $80 after tax.
I broke the housing of a relay when I was disconnecting things... $25 for a replacement, but I managed to repair it with JB Plastic Weld...
Got it all back together, she's running good now! $155 spent on a 7 cubic foot, made in the USA, commercial fridge... it sells for $1500 new, so I figure I did ok.
This will likely become my meat curing and maybe aging fridge...

I'm amazed at what one can find on CL, at least in other parts of the country. All you can find around here is junk, spam ads, and free dogs.... ::). Great find!
Whatever came of your pizza oven? Did you get it going?

Nice work and congrats on your great repair job and find!

That would make a great cold smoker as well.

That's awesome Joe!
I'd love to have one of those for brining turkeys and holding extra food for big weekend cooks you did well.

I work in Ann Arbor Michigan, so from there, I'm like 45 minutes or so from anywhere in metro Detroit, if I want to be. So, I'm in a area that does get a fair amount of stuff showing up on craigslist... ( still have never seen a high end pellet grill though aka FEC120 ) I did see a Yoder come up once, but that was like 3 hours from me, and I really dind't need a YS-640 with comp cart for $2000 very badly.
Recently I found a like 70's vintage upright freezer, about 16 cubic feet, the person didn't have a photo of it, but only wanted like $40, so I called. I started to figure out what I was going to need to do to go look at it and/or buy it, when the guy says... " It's in the back of my truck now, I could bring it to you". I still hadn't seen it, but he did describe it to me, so I said yeah, sure... If I would have drove to get it, it would have cost me about $10 in gas, and took about 40 minutes of my time. He was waiting in my driveway when I got home that day, helped me get it in my garage. ON that one, I had to do some cleaning, but I really like the freezer now that I got it cleaned up...
All in all, my problem with craigslist, is that if I look at it enough, I could go broke, buying good deals I see. It does help , if your able and willing to fix things yourself... Like that Subway refrigerator... If I wouldn't have been able to fix that myself, it wouldn't have been a very good deal.. other then I had other ideas about what I could use it for, even if the compressor had been completely fried on it.
