A Second Turkey...
« on: November 09, 2017, 10:18:19 AM »

Was looking at an other cooking site and read about an extremely thoughtful person.. He contacted his local food bank and asked if there was someone that could use a cooked turkey..Within a few minuets he got a call back with a name and address of the person in need.... His pit is large enough to cook two birds - that is what generated the thought..The turkeys were cooked and one delivered to a most thankful person....So touching!

Great idea. I may offer to do something simular at our local food pantry. I know there are several families who are unable to cook a turkey because they only have a microwave. Our pantry will probably hand out over 50 turkeys and turkey breasts, but it doesn't help if there is no way for someone to cook them. I'm thinking it might be doable if I spatched the turkey and then vac sealed it after it cooled. They could easily reheat it whenever they wanted.
