I am in the camp of "I don't have a PayPal account and will not get one". If it is set up so I can use a credit card to pay, I am in. If not, I will not participate.

I can set it up as a business account. This would allow people to pay with credit card without an account. The 2.9 percent fee would apply plus a 30 cent transaction fee.

So if we sell 40 ten dollar tickets, I would have 59 cents of fees on each ticket for a total of 23.60. It also appears that the 2.9 percent is returned to me if I would need to refund the money for lack of interest. The 30 cent transaction fees would not.

It appears that everything would be covered expense wise with the 40 tickets at 10 dollars each.

My only problem with this is, if one person decides to buy (10) tickets @$10 each and everyone else buys (1) ticket @ $10, say a total of $1000 need to raise. This would mean only 100 tickets available. Then this one individual has a 10% chance to win where as the others have a 1% chance. I know the odds are each ticket is worth 1%. This seems it could be skewed by multiple entries by one individual though since there would be a finite amount of tickets.  The figures are for example only.

That being said, I would be interested if this is somehow taken into account to balance the chance for everyone that chooses to participate.

Just my 0.02 cents.

I don't see why that matters, if I want to spend $50 on tickets, that doesn't make your chance to win any less, it just makes mine greater because I spent more money.

here's another option for payment  with no fees  https://www.zellepay.com/

fedex is probably the most expensive way to ship things .

That all depends on where the package begins and ends. UPS and Fedex can have vastly diffent rates depending on where it is picked up and dropped off. One address UPS may be much more expensive or visa versa.

I agree. The goal should be to reach the required value to purchase the product in the shortest period of time. It would be self defeating to fall short because there was a limit on the number of tickets allowed per person.   :2cents:

FMT posted some suggested rules for our drawing in another thread as follows:

1. 10 dollars (cost of ticket)
2. 40 tickets. Total cost of oven 299 (free shipping to you). Shipping to winner 65. Leftover money covers possibly 3 circumstances:
A. Shipping cost changes between the time test is done and actual shipping
B. My possible fees from PayPal
C. Operating expenses for pellet fan.
(see note at bottom)
3. Do 2 weeks of one per person. Open up to two per person for a week. Then 3 per person for a week. So Max 3 per person.
4. Total 4 weeks with layout above.

I say once it reaches the goal of 400, it's closed.  Buy the item, and do the test.

I thought these were good and I liked having a limit of one ticket for the first week since there was a limit of 40 and so gave everyone who may want to participate a chance.  If 40 are not sold after that, then more tickets are available to those who might want more opportunities.

Where will the link to buy a raffle ticket be posted so I can keep an eye out for it?

I meant to thank you earlier for this link. I did check it out. It does appear to be free, but must be linked to a bank account. I was kind of hoping I could just run it from a neutral app, which seems possible with PayPal. So that is route I went with. Should have some exciting news tomorrow.
