Ribs on Rotisserie?
« on: January 27, 2018, 08:58:58 AM »

I am having so much fun using my rotisserie that I want to try some racks of St. Louis style ribs on it.  I am looking for ideas on how to secure them to the spit.  My initial thought is to have two racks and I would tie them back to back.  I would run the spit in between them.  I would then use the spit forks to secure them more.  I don't know how not having the back side of the ribs getting heat would affect them.

I have a basket, but two racks will not fit in it plus it is a little too short.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated?

I stuck the rod through about every 4th bone the one or two times I did them on my Weber Summit years ago.

An acquaintance of mine invented these. Google octoforks if you would like more info. They expand and contract. If you have the clearance vertically on your grill, you can do full racks without manipulating them too much.

This is not my picture. Just pulled it off of Google for reference.

Shish kabob skewers pointed diagonally from slab to slab. Use yer basket and put the ribs on the outside.
The pointy ends of the rotisserie will hold up the ends of the ribs, and the skewers run through the basket will keep them from sloughing off.
PLUS... you'll get separation between the ribs.

My smoker is not big enough for using this for ribs.  But it could be for something down the line.  I have bookmarked their website for future ideas.

Thanks!!
