I never have but after doing a google search for "Osso Bucco on their pellet grills" to find out what it was, I may have to try it some time. In my search 3 pellet cooking recipes came up and looked good.

No I have not. I have only made it in a pressure cooker.  Be interested to hear others who might have.

Be glad to I now need to think how I will do it.  I will probably smoke for 45 minutes at 175 then take by torch to brown it but maybe no if I use flour ant them finish on the grill at 75 and serve over risotto.

I would if I could afford the ox tails!  And yes I know it is veal shanks...but come on man...if I cant afford ox tails, do you really think I can afford real Osso Buco!   :pig:

My mantra is if I can cook it in the oven, it is going to be twice as good in the pit!  Now, that mantra assumes you are a non lazy person, so I cook in the oven more then the pit!

After reading this post, I ordered mini Osso Buco at one of our community restaurants last night, it was the best meal I've ever had there. I'd like to try them prepared on my smoker but I have no idea of where to buy veal shanks. Where do you buy veal shanks or even beef shanks for that matter?

If you should be able to purchase them at your friendly butcher or a food store such as Wholefoods, Wegmans or Harris Teeter.  I am fortunate that I have a great butcher near me.

A restaurant here makes a version with pork shanks. It's served vertical on top of whipped potatoes with some of the pork gravy. Pretty awesome.
