Masterbuilt electric smoker
« on: December 02, 2018, 02:36:15 PM »

Has anyone ever used pellets in their masterbuilt electric smoker or just stayed with the manufacturer's suggested wood chips...if so, how did the pellets perform in the smoker ??

Chips or pellets work.  That said, at low temps it never made good smoke, like at 225 or 250.  Also, charring wood doesn't make the good smoke like burning wood, nitrates and other smoke molecules that give the 'smoke ring'.

So, many folks use a pellet tube, fill with your choice of pellets and use a blow torch (small hobby butane one works fine) to light the pellets.  I get about 2 hours of smoke per 6" tube.
