Memphis Elite: How much room?
« on: December 14, 2018, 03:42:17 PM »

Looking like the Memphis Elite is going to be my centerpiece for my outdoor kitchen, but I'll be relegating my FEC-100 to competition only so a little concerned about space.

Would someone mind telling me how many butts fit on the Elite at one time, and maybe racks of ribs. Briskets?

Thanks!

Can you fit butts on main grate and more on second shelf or is a typical butt too tall?

Seems to me I saw a picture posted by Bentley where he placed the butts on the main rack them placed the small racks on top of the butts then put more butts on top of the rack.  He has a bro.  Maybe he will see this and chime in.
Having people over in mid-January for a rib fest.  Will see how many I can pack into my Pro.  Will most likely cut each rack in half as I think I can get more in that way.

The height is the hardest part to deal with!  This is a shot of 6 on the Pro.  If you are willing to have the rack a little off kilter and have the butts sit a little strange, I bet you could easily get 12 on an Elite!

Thanks guys. Definitely workable, and I will still have my FEC-100 I can pull out of the garage if I have crazy big cooks I need to do here and there.

I think it would be easy to fashion some kind of block that would raise the second level an inch or two so it would not rest on the butts below.

Very good point! I'll have to cogitate on that once I have the cooker.

A man that is not lazy could do something like that I bet!

Here is a pic with 12, but I think I have got 13-14 on there one other time.  You need to buy the extra racks.
