For Those Who Like Dill Pickles
« on: April 04, 2019, 08:08:01 AM »

I don't like dill pickles, but I just saw a recipe from Delish and was intrigued.  Instead of jalapenos, they use mini dill pickles to make poppers.

They half the mini dill, scoop out the inside, make a spread of cream cheese, cheddar cheese and garlic, fill the pickle, wrap in bacon and cook like a popper.

I may try with some sweet gerkins, or maybe the dills since Bent likes dill pickles.

Please...go for it...both sweet and dill.  That would be a welcome change for guests that see jalapeños at every party.

My favorite food at the state fair is kinda similar. The take a dill spear, coat it in cream cheese, wrap in corned beef then bread it and deep fry it since it’s a fair. Your recipe looks good to me.

I can’t remember what they call them at the fair, seems like it was fried pickle dog, but when I google that someone is making a corn dog with pickle between the dog and cornbread batter now and calling it that.

I would think you would want a good barrel or Clausen Type of pickle, something more solid than the Vlassic type on the shelf.

I Love Dill pickles, will pass on that recipe!  I will stick with the japs! Would rather try the sweet...I think the sweetness of the gerkin would complement the bacon!

One of our local bars has deep fried batter coated dill pickle chips on the their appetizer menu, I tried them and they are very good.
