Cooking Grate Repositioning
« on: June 06, 2019, 09:10:49 AM »

Something I have done for some time is to rotate the cooking grate(s) every once in a while..Why? To even things out. I find some parts grease-up more than others and some areas tend to get cooked  on

more.. An example would be my Memphis. Has a 4 section grate system. The rear tends to grease-up more than the front due to the gap below. As well I tend to cook more towards the middle. So what I do

is to swap the outer sections with the centre sections and rotate all of them..Call me fussy if you will.

When doing my Weber gasser, I rotate and move the flavorizer bars as well. That way they are going from over a flame to in-between..I've had this pit for many years now and the internals barely show the

the pits age..Admittedly, I rarely use it as pellets and charcoal are the norm now.

Useful and practical idea! Never thought about this.

I tend to rotate the grates on my Rec Tec every time I clean the barrel and drip pan.  My gasser like CJ I move around the internals a couple times a year.
