Ninja Foodi
« on: July 03, 2019, 08:23:14 AM »

My wife's birthday is coming up and she has been hinting she wants an air fryer.  I'm thinking about getting a Ninja Foodi for her.  It seems to do several different things; slow cooker, pressure cooker, dehydrator and air fryer.  I want the dehydrator to finish Jerky after smoking it on the GMG DB.  She's also mentioned an Instapot, which I think is basically a pressure cooker.  Am I right on that??  Do any of y'all have any experience with one or something similar??

(I want a griddle of some sort after Bentley's review of the Griddle Hack, but that was quickly shot down because it wasn't her idea.  I think we would use it more.)

Thanks!!

My Daughter and her Husband have the Ninja Foodi, they love it and they use it quite often. They are kind of foody (hate the word) and we have eaten things prepared in it and they were good but we have never used it.
Probably not much help but thought I would share.

Thanks!  I'll be the one who uses it the most since I do most of the cooking.  I try to keep the mess to a minimum, which is why I like to cook outside (cue my need of a griddle).  Do they have the 6.5 or 8 quart?

My daughter said they got the 6.5 and they wish they had gotten the 8.

Thanks!  There are four of us in the house, so the big one would be better for us I think.

I can't speak to the Ninja specifically, but my neighbor has an air fryer and swears by it. We share a propane fired 3 gal. deep fryer that gets used for big cooks, but for two people he and his wife turn to the air fryer most of the time.

Seems like it would be easier and less messy.  We have a Fry Daddy that I don't like.

A griddle that would fit on the kitchen range, can be washed off with water and stored in the pantry.  I think it gets more use too!

I have a two burner cast iron one that came with our gas stove top I've never used.  Smooth on one side and ridges on the other.  Going to dig it out of the barn and clean it up to sear a T bone on tomorrow on the side with ridges.  Bonnie went to her mom's and took the girls, so I'm going to treat myself.  My neighbor gave me a laser thermometer that conveniently fell out of his truck when he had to clean it out after being laid off from his oilfield job.  He was planning on retiring anyway, so we often have a few beverages together and talk pellet grill stuff.  He has a Traeger Elite.  New thread for how hot to get the cast iron.

We do not have the Ninja, but we do have an air fryer.  It does a great job and we use it quite a bit.  Recently fried some chicken wings...they were great.  I know this does not help you with your question as our fryer is just that a fryer, not a slow cooker etc.

It helps!  Looks like I need to order one.  Especially since it's not a one trick pony and seems pretty versatile.  I'll run the idea past my daughter.  She is good at giving me gift ideas since she is so much like her mom.

And every time I think about it, the old Ronco Veg-O-Matic commercial comes to mind.  "It slices!  It dices!"  Not sure why it pops into my head.

Interesting read.  I still like the different functions of the Ninja better even though it's a counter space vampire.  We can do more things with one appliance that's cheaper than buying all four.
