I’m looking for ideas for New Years Eve appetizers. I can smoke .. like a good dip or something out of the normal.. let’s hear what you got :bbq: :bbq:

I hope this isn't too repetitive as I've replied to threads like this before.

Thick cut bacon, cut in half.
wrap around date
pierce with tooth pick.

It's about the easiest (unless you want to add sliced almonds inside which I gave up on) app you'll ever make, though I would set aside 2 hours to get the bacon rendered properly at low heat (180 to 225) without burning.

They disappear, every time.

I did the bacon/date thing with Manchego cheese.  Turned out real tasty.  Salty bacon and sweet date with a rich cheese  :clap:

 A Ritz biscuit with a slice of cheese, 1/4 to 3/8" thick and a dab of tasty bbq sauce on top. Heat just to soften or slightly melt the cheese.. It's different.

 Let us know what you ended up doing + how it turned out - good or bad.

My buddy JP used to do a great clam dip.  Would take Snow's Minced clams, mix with, cream cheese, sour cream and mayo til it was the consistency he liked and seasoned to taste.  It was thicker then your average sour cream dip, needed a serious ruffled chip to handle it!  But it was delicious.

I love the app dk and ofelles suggested.  I do it quite often.  One addition, I sprinkle them with a little bbq rub before putting them on.

If you have time, pork belly burnt ends are always a hit.

It might not be real fancy or too original, but we also make a artichoke heart dip that is really good and always a hit.

2 cans artichoke hearts (cut each heart into 1/8 pieces)
1 cup mayo
1/2 cup parm cheese
1 small jar of pimentos
2tsp oregano (dried)
2tsp garlic powder
1/2tsp basil (dried)
bread crumbs

Mix everything in a bowl then transfer to a square baking dish.  Sprinkle bread crumbs on top.  Bake at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour.  It could probably be done on the pit which may add additional flavor?

We usually serve with wheat thins or other similar type crackers.
