Climate Setting on DB
« on: September 28, 2020, 03:10:25 PM »

Anyone else have temp issues when you change the climate setting?  Seem like I am constantly changing the calibration and having to move the firebox whenever I change the setting. Kinda frustrating. I do have version 6.8 DB APlv2 (what the app shows). Any help would be appreciated.

I changed it once on my DB to cold.  It was in the mid thirties on the morning I fired it up for a turkey breast for Thanksgiving and that is cold to me.  All it did was smother the fire out and filled up the bottom of the pit with pellets.  I switched it back and never had an issue again.

Hmmm...interesting.

Last weekend I had mine set on "cold" as well when it went out and filled the bottom with pellets...

I wonder what cold actually changes in the programming?

The response I got from GMG:

"Changing the climate settings on your grill will change how aggressively the auger and fan run in the grill and can also change the temp in the grill left to right you will need to make small adjustments to the heat shield to get everything balanced back out after adjusting."

I guess I will leave it on one setting and go from there. I really don't want to have to recalibrate and move the heat shield everytime I change the climate setting.
