New Jersey sloppy joe?
« on: July 21, 2020, 08:57:08 PM »

I thought that I had pretty much heard of every type of sandwich. I would put multiple sandwiches in my top 10 foods actually. I LOVE  a good sandwich.

How have I never heard of this?  Anyone had one?  Bar-b-lew?

I did not know these were only NJ Sloppy Joe's.  You can get these types of Sloppy Joe sandwiches in just about every good Jewish deli in the area.   I actually love them.  I think it is that combo of dry coleslaw and the russian dressing.  Many places will substitute beef tongue for the roast beef.  I know it sounds nasty, but it is actually pretty good.  Has a different, and not in a bad way, texture than roast beef. Oh, and yes, I am from NJ.  Kristin, if you liked the ingredients they showed, you would like this sandwich.  I was hesitant to try the tongue the first time, but really liked it once I tried.

Call it what you want, that aint a Sloppy Joe...Pick different meats and it might be a good sandwich, but turkey and roast beef together does not do it for me!
