Lessons for The Cheap Screw...
« on: February 27, 2022, 01:20:28 PM »

Lesson One.  Making Homemade Chipotle Gourmaise.  Why pay $3.99 for a .49¢ item.

Grow or buy, then Smoke Green and Red Jalapenos.  Break open 10 of each, remove stem & majority of seeds, add to 1/4 cup of Vegetable Oil.  Steep overnight.  Next, blend with stick blender, add 7 Fl. Oz. of mayo of your choice.  Mix with a fork, adding 3 Tbs. of heavy cream and salt to taste.

Voilà!

Low on price, high on quality. That's how I see it.  By making your own, at least you know what's in and most likely end up with a better tasting, more nourishing product.

We are loosing track of how to do things in our fast paced throwaway society.

I agree to this somewhat, but if one is so inclined, there are literally thousands of money saving tips on YouTube, some practical, others not so much.

Following this line of thought, Ranch dressing is much better when made from their powder and real ingredients.  Totally from scratch with fresh herbs is the best but ingredients aren’t always available.
Flavored mayonnaise is a ripoff.

Bentley how long did you smoke the chili?  Smoking and drying is another thing on my list.

I actually did both drying & smoking at same time.  The best I recall it was about 8 hours.
