John in Washington DC
« on: October 05, 2017, 03:44:05 PM »

Hello,

I finally found PelletFan a few days ago!  I had been down in Texas since late August working on response and recovery operations after Hurricane Harvey.  I work for FEMA as an IT Specialist, so I went down there to get office space and computer networks ready for the response/recovery personnel to use while in Texas.  I also opened the smaller offices in individual communities in and around Houston and Corpus Christie that FEMA opened for ordinary citizens to visit to register for benefits and ask questions about benefit programs.  Sometimes, life as an IT Specialist can be exciting AND rewarding.

I have (or had) been a member of PelletHeads for about 7 or 8 years.  I'm not the most talkative person around, so I didn't have a large number of posts.  I did learn a heck of a lot though, and appreciate all of the support that the members provided.

I currently have two Traeger Lil Tex Elites.  I like the flexibility to have the cookers operating at different temperatures when the menu for the day has varied offerings.  Both of these units are kind of old, and I have had to do some repairs on both.  Because of this, I'm probably going to cannibalize the functioning parts from one to use as replacement parts for the other.  I'll then buy a new unit to get me back to two functioning units.

I also have a charcoal grill that I still use a lot.  I just prefer things like hamburgers and boneless chicken breasts when they have been cooked on the charcoal grill.

Have fun,
John

A big welcome! John from the Eastern Shore in "Merryland". ..... Just jump on Route 50 and go east compadre! ..... Thank you for all of your efforts in Texas. My wife's family was in the middle of all of that .... from Houston through Orange and into Louisiana. Three of the families completely washed out!

Welcome...from one IT professional to another.  I find my pellet grill is the best way to leave the technology behind, unwind, and reconnect with life.  Pellet grills are my hobby / therapy.
