Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!!! I wish to remember the principles upon which this day was founded and all those over the years who have fought for, and sometimes lost their lives in the defense of, these ideals.

"When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume, among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That, whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness..........:

I hope everyone has a great day and remembers all the good in our country, how far we have come, how open we are to examination and change, how much we do change, how much we try to be good people and do right and how our history reflects that and how our Founding Fathers enabled all of this with the institutions they established and fought for.

244 years, we are such a young Nation!  There are chairs older then that in many parts of the world!

Happy Fourth of July! Question of the day: How come you never hear any knock knock jokes about the Fourth of July? Because freedom rings!!

244 years, we are such a young Nation!  There are chairs older then that in many parts of the world!

The college I went to was founded in 1742 so there may be some things there older than our Nation.

Happy 4th of July!  We are lucky to live in a great nation and I pray we all remember that and remember all the things we share and not focus so much on what divides.
