« on: November 10, 2017, 08:03:52 AM »

I have a Traeger with a Savannah Stoker controller is as started to trip the GFCI about 5 minutes after starting it. I can reset the GFCI then the smoker and it will run fine.  I have had a hot rod go bad in the past but it wold trip as soon has it was turned on anyone else have one that tripped after warming up?  Going to install a new hot rod tonight not sure what else it could be.

Odds are it is the Hot Rod, a quick check would be to unplug the Hot Rod and start the unit and let it run thru the cycle.

Not sure with the S. S. How it controls the hotrod..The Traeger controller is 4 minutes from startup..Could be the GFCI is on the way out - they don't last forever.

If it is truly 5 min and the controller shuts off the hotrod @ 4 min.... Check w/ S.S. re igniter duration and go from there..

I checked the SSV4 manual and it stays on for 4 minutes and will remain on until the chamber temperature reaches the value of "IGN".  The "IGN" value is a setup parameter that is 130 degF by default.

If this what directed to my comment, yes. Once the hotrod was replaced, it returned to normal operation. Took about 5 minutes.
