I sometimes forget how superior this forum is.  It may be the result of seeing constant quality here.

I'm curious about stick burner equipment and techniques and have been Internet surfing trying to find a stick burner forum.  The forums I've visited are of no use to me.  They are populated with posts that can be summed up–

"Look at what I've cooked!
"Here are some pictures of the wonderful ______ I smoked.  I used my special marinade topped off with an injection and massage of my secret rub."

Then the obligatory congratulatory replies are listed.

There are no recipes or step×step processes.  There's nothing that would help me duplicate their results.  I don't understand why they think I would even care to read their post.

One more time—thank you Bentley and Kristin for setting and maintaining the high standards for Pellet Fan.

Thank you Paul.  And thank you for contributing many quality threads, recipes and tutorials.  So many PelletFans do the same.  The members are what make this a special site.

Agree completely. I always said the same thing to other people about pelletheads as well. It was thoughtful information for the most part. I do like the brethren just for traffic, but like most others sites it's just a bunch of "way to go" type posts. There is alot of good info, you just have to dig a little. You think forums are bad though. I was on some facebook groups for about 2 weeks, and abruptly quit all but one. Total waste of time.

pmillen,

Back in the day when I first got my first pellet smoker the forum I frequented was called "The Q Joint" lots of stick burner folks there. In fact I left the forum because of all the xxxx they gave folks who used pellet smokers. They were down right rude to pellet smoker users so I left. I looked it up its still there just didn't want to post a link here. Maybe there attitude has changed toward pellet smokers. Its been almost 10 years.

Yes thank you Bentley & Kristen for all you've done over the years!

I agree 100%.  There are alot of BBQ forums out there.  I like this one the best.  I come to this forum more than the others because I like it and Bentley and Kristin are kind enough to let me hang out here.  I'm thankful for that.

The only other bbq smoking forum I frequent is smoking meat forum. Fantastic site with great people willing to help or guide someone looking for a certain type of pit.

When I was researching stick burners,  that site was a big help.

Just as this/other site was a big help in researching pellet pits.

I think it's great to be part of any cooking community.  Thank you for providing us a place to share information and ideas about a subject we all hold dear, and for allowing me to join.
