What cooking methods do you use
« on: January 07, 2018, 10:35:05 AM »

I was looking at the thread "what cooking tool do you use the most" and began wondering about the various cooking methods we all use.  I know we all use the pellet grill but what else do you use.  I have Air fryers, sous Vide machine, deep fat fryer, waffle makers, infrared grill to name a few.  Like I said I am just curious.

This is what I can think of at the moment:
Indoor gas grill on my range
Griddle
Wok for stir fry and mostly deep frying
Pasta roller
Kitchen aid mixer for pizza, bread, and ice cream
Blackstone oven for pizza
Grinder for burger meat, sausage, and mashed potatoes
Stuffer for sausage and snack sticks
Deli slicer
Rotisserie
Scale

Nice thread...

Pellet Grill
Gas Grill
Multiple seasoned black frying pans (different sizes)
Seasoned flat griddle
Food Processor
Blender
Jalapeño sheller (for my armadillo eggs)
Garden Sprayer (for Spritzing)
Mopper
Nice sharp Knives
Rolling Pin

As far as actual methods, I am pretty limited -- stove top, oven and electric skillet.  Lots of kitchen tools, but not sure those are cooking methods.  I think it would be fun to someday do a real clambake where you dig a pit and have rocks and a fire and seaweed and then seafood, corn, potatoes and cover and let it steam cook.  Or one of those big outside crayfish boils.

Could you define method?  To me, sous vide is a method, and air fryer is a tool...Confit is a method, a fryer is a tool...Ok Mr Potato head, don't be a Xxxx...

I guess the two methods I use most are dry heat, and fricassee...

I guess I viewed the question as a broader inquiry. An air fryer is a tool that allows you to cook using a certain method. A deli slicer is a tool that allows me to acurately re-create a method. It is alot of blended info, but kind of gives some insight to how people go about their business. Interesting to see the different approaches to cooking that others are using on a regular basis.
