Smoking half a butt.
« on: February 15, 2018, 09:12:57 PM »

What's the down side to cutting one in half and cooking for pulled pork?  I have a small window to do a bit of smoking this weekend and I really don't want to cook a whole butt.
I'm thinking it will have more smoke flavour and cook faster.  What am I missing?
Thanks

Double bark, more smoke, reduced cooking time and less left overs!  It all sounds good to me.
Thanks y'all.

I would like to see pics of how you cut it and then your assessment of whether you got what you expected in the final results.  Curious to see how this works out.  This may be one of those why didn't I think of that moments for me.

I watched DDD I believe it was on food network, Guy was in Hawaii and the guy there had butts that looked to be cut into softball size or slightly larger and he smoked them and then they were shredded, now of course they had some sort of special rub and stuff, I thought about trying it but never did. For me PP is fill the little electric cookshack with about 30# and turn it on and come back in about 13 hours and take them out.
