I grew up fishing for crab (and salmon, rock fish, etc) on Puget Sound. I had never tried anything other than Dungeness or Red Rock before I as in the Navy.
So, On a visit to Washington DC I wanted to try Blue crab. We visited a pretty nice restaurant at the national train station and I decided to try the crab cakes. They were very very good , cooked properly, seasoned well, very little filler. I was so impressed I commented to our server how much I enjoyed the crab cakes. She let me know they were a new type of crab the Chef wanted to try, they had them brought in from Seattle. She said they had an odd name she couldn’t pronounce so I said “Dungeness?â€
Her, “yes! That’s it! Isn’t it wonderful!â€
I still haven’t been able to try Blue crab.
