Just happened to be in Costco the other day and 10# was $2.29 @lb.   Seems like just yesterday (really wasn't) that you could get all you can eat wings at Buffalo Wild Wings for 11-12$.   Think my record was 9 orders, waitress said I wasn't even close to topping the most by 1 person.

Mid 90's I used to get all you can eat for $7.95 those were the days.  a place had sunday wings for 15 cents.  The world has changed!

Im lazy I would prefer to find wings already sectioned but I bet that would add even more to a crazy price!

Best I ever saw price wise was a place in Myrtle Beach, not that long ago, about 10 years.  They were 0.50 cents on Thursday, but you got no sauce or vegetables!  Was not to bad, since they were usually $8.99 for 8.

if we go out for wings they run 9 to 10 bucks a dozen, which is half a dozen wings. There are still some places that do the whole 3 piece wing, I like those places, and am not a breaded wing fan. I remember the days of 15 and even a place that did 10 cent wings they were small but hey you just ate 4 dozen instead of 2.

I was shopping today and was buying a whole chicken for cooking on the test pit.  I decided to also check out some fresh wings because we both love them and I thought they would be good to demonstrate on the pit.

Chicken prices for various pieces (thighs, drumsticks, breast) ranged from $.99 per pound to $1.98 per pound. Price for wings -- $4.99 per pound!!!!!  How can that be??? ???  What are you folks paying for fresh, uncooked wings?
And the wings were the parts that they used to discard.  I suspect that demand is the culprit.

One of my favorites was from my time living in western Pennsylvania where several places served "Wing Dings".  It was the whole wing, breaded and fried, and served with a bottle of Frank's Red Hot Sauce and a shaker of garlic salt.  It was so good.  Can't remember the price but everything in that area was dirt cheap.

Do you remember Pat Morita’s character on Happy Days, “Arnold” Takahashi?  He owned Arnold’s Drive-In.  The running joke was that he was trying to sell chicken wings but no one would buy them.

Restaurant Depot is probably less than $2.20/# but you would have to buy 40# box.

Just received my regular email from Restaurant Depot advertising their weekly specials.

$1.89/lb for “Jumbo Party Wings”
$1.79/lb for “Whole Jumbo Wings”

Great sale as far as I can tell but like you said, that’s probably a 40lb box. You would need a plan.

According to my buddy who's in the wholesale food business, prices will remain high until a four wing chicken emerges...

As I said, it is all supply and demand.  Solution:  Genetic engineering!  Some of my research friends and I are working in secrecy to develop a chicken with 6 wings, (3 on each side).  We will call them "six pack peckers"(chickens).   So a future shopping list might say "pick up one  six pack pecker, a pack of pickled peppers, and a six pack of beer on the way home."  :rotf:

Sorry!
