I am intrigued by oyster dressing/stuffing, as I LOVE oysters.

Anyone care to share a recipe?

My son in law's father sat down at our table many years ago and declared "how come there ain't oysters in this dressing?"   I told him "I love sage dressing and I love oysters but neither the twain shall meet at my table".   Still holds true 30 years later.

hey bob.   This isn't a recipe.  I'm a cook not a chef.  I bet you could doctor up some stove top with onions and celery and a can or two of diced smoked oysters, oil and all.  It would probably be fantastic.

I am doing dungeness crab stove top stuffing again this year.  I have to add chicken liver and broth for moisture.   With the oysters and oil you'd be fine without.    Just my  :2cents:  I'd really like to hear how it works for you.  I'd consider trying it for Christmas.

We used to make oyster stuffing all the time. Don't recall the recipe was anything special, just your basic stuffing recipe with about a cup of chopped fresh oysters added. I remember we once made it using Stovetop, and it turned out great.

I will ask Gwen to find her Mother’s, I loved it when she made it, somehow though it is not something we had much luck with making??....

Could I use canned oysters for this recipe?

I think this would be a question for Hughver as he claims residence in the Puget Sound area and Arizona.

I love oysters in any form. Raw, fried, grilled... Tried smoking them once and it was a 100% waste of good oysters.

I've never seen canned oysters that weren't precooked (likely boiled). I would think that the 'liquor' is lost in the process, so it's a no go for me.
