Icon Pellet-Fed Kamado

Icon Pellet-Fed Kamado

I have a ceramic kamado cooker (Kamado Joe, Big Joe) that suits us for certain kinds of cooks.  I recently became aware of the Icon Pellet-Fed Kamado shown above.  Does anyone have any information on it?

(Aside from the likelihood that users will continually bark their shins on the pellet unit.)

I have a pellet grill and a kamado (BGE), I only use the kamado when I want a charcoal flavor profile. Unless you can burn both charcoal and pellets in this unit, I don't know why anyone would buy one.

I think they're out of business. From what I recall, they did not get positive reviews. The temp was not thermostatically controlled, and grease dripped into the firepot. And because it's insulated so well, very little pellets were burned, resulting in little to no smoke flavor.  I don't own a kamado, but I understand you can get very long burn times from a single charcoal filling, giving you hours of unattended cooking.  Of course, that's one of the main benefits of pellet cookers, so not sure a pellet fired kamado has any real benefit.

My feel for this is that it's just another unessential new gimmick to make money for someone.   Sorta like scams on the phone.

I would agree Greg. Go full pellet or full lump not a hybrid.  :2cents:

Yeah, and if you straddle you'll likely trip on the legs.

Plus, this unit is definitely not made for today's PC culture.  In order to use it, you must manspread, which will get you in trouble nowadays. :pig:
