It's Good to have Friends!
« on: March 23, 2019, 03:38:35 PM »

My friend and 24th place in Ribs at the 2015 American Royal Open Competition, Mr ZCZ sent me some Wee Willy's Steak Formula which I am going to try on a Tri-Tip that the family is going to have tonight, will do a hot grill on the Memphis Pro!  This is the stuff I used on that 11th place Brisket back at the 2010 AR!  Yeah, I know, what have you done for me lately!

Not the reason we are all eating together tonight, but I just realized that today would have been my Mom's 93rd Birthday, so we will eat a little beef in her memory!

Thanks Z!

Looks wonderful! I'll have to try Wee Willy. I've been searching for the holy grail rubs for decades I think!  ;D

I love Wee Willy products. His SweetFormula is really good on vegetables.

Nothing like Montreal, it is a good savory rub, no sugar.  Was really good on this Tri-tip!  Gonna try some on burgers and see if it comes out as well as the tri-tip.  The camera sure does not capture medium rare very well!

Never seem to be able to let it rest enough.

Wee Willy is a local MN BBQ competitor. Tho don’t think he competes anymore. His claim to fame was taking first place at The Jack back in 2002 I believe. No small feat. I used his “Original “ sauce on my ribs at the 2015 Royal. I suspected it would have a flavor profile that might catch the judges attention. May have done the trick. No way to know.

If you would have asked me before I saw this list there was brown sugar in the rub I would have said no there is not!

It doesn't list it, but looked like it had crushed red pepper in it.  Did it?

I will have to look at them more closely, I thought they were. Not sure what a "spice" is, meaning that is how we get away with not divulging all that is in our product.  Which seems fair!
