I am set for Gatorade...
« on: November 26, 2017, 04:02:49 PM »

I have loved this stuff ever since I started playing football in High School.  For you in the West with Smart and Final, you are lucky, that is the only place I could ever find the big ones, the ones that make 9 gallons!

When the family met in Montana in September of 2016 for my folks Memorial service, I had my oldest sister Karen and her husband Jeff bring me 4 cases.  Had no idea how long they would last.  The 4 on top are the end of that load.

You can get the little 2 gal. ones here, and even the 5 gallon I think, but the cost is some much more.  So they went West to visit Jeffs family and brough me back another load, I ask for 4 cases, but they brought 6...Meh, works for me!   So, I figure this load should get me to some where in 2019!

Bad thing is when you make your own...you can never go back!  I bought some at the store the other day and it tasted like water!

There was a rumor a few years ago that you cook with it.

I have used it in rubs and injections with Pork Butts for many years...I like the citric component with the pork.

I love the newer Ice flavors, drank plenty of the lemon lime years ago but can only say that the only do it yourself mix we ever had was the little orange containers, thinking 2 gallons? Still have a few containers, use them now as picture hangers holders, little nails etc. Kool - Aid is the drink we grew up on, cherry or grape was a family favorite.

I appreciate the offer.  I love the stuff, and that is exactly what I used to get at Smart & Final in the West.  I have decide that I need to get off it do to the sugar, and not even as much the sugar as the calories.  I am trying to mix these last 6 with 1/2 Crystal light.

Never really paid attention to it, but there are 80 calories per 12 oz. and probably closer to 100 the way I make it.  And I will sit down and drink 1/2 gallon at a time, that is 550 calories in one shot!

By the way, how many cans do you have left after a little over two years?
