BIG Thermoworks Announcement 3/6/20 @ 2:30PM Eastern
« on: March 06, 2020, 09:04:32 AM »

For the first time, I received an email yesterday from Thermoworks about a big new product announcement.  No information in the email regarding what the product may be unlike previous new products where they will show something about it and then follow up with release date and pricing later.

Smoke X - same as Smoke but has a transmit signal of 1.25 miles not using wifi and doesn't look like it is even wifi capable.  Probably a great unit for BBQ teams that may be wondering around a BBQ comp site and can still know what is going on with their cook or cooker.  Probably not something I will be purchasing but I have said that before too.

Yep, only time I ever had wifi at a competition was the American Royal, would have been nice in that competition setting to have that range.

It is a good advancement..At times I get a disconnect in my Smoke set-up when I bring the receiver into the house. I know its limitations and deal with it accordingly..I really don't need the extra distance

aloughI would appreciate it if I had it..

Smoke ware is a leader in their field that designs, manufactures and sells excellent affordable good quality products with excellent service..Being an old guy, I find it hard to keep up with the rapid

advancements in technology. It seems whatever a person buys, it is either outdated or improved long before its service life has come into full play.

I saw it. I have the four probe Signals. I am not sure I would get more from a mile and a quarter range. The penalty is that you would have to carry around the receiving rather than having the data come to your smart phone. This may not be necessary for home cookers with decent wifi routers.

Again, I think this is primarily for those who compete it BIG BBQ competitions like The National, The Jack, Memphis in May, etc. where your turn in area may be a significant distance from your cooking area and you still want to monitor your pit w/o wifi.

I am excited about this, we don’t have WiFi at our summer lake cottage so it will allow me to monitor my cooks during cocktail boat cruises.

Another great example of a place to use this type of device
