Too Hot
« on: July 01, 2023, 09:48:46 PM »

hey guys I am cooking in my FEC120.  I have on 14 lb brisket in there.  Its hot out and I had it set to 180 and it was up to 240 / 260.  I think I have it down to 160 now but its still showing 214.  How much lower could i go?! Any ideas? Pan of water maybe?

Don't know much about Cookshack pellet cookers, but do you have something in there to monitor the chamber temps other then what the controller shows?
I would think if it is that hot it would burn out as the temps are way above the set point so it would not see a need to drop pellets in to keep it going.

I plan on doing a 5 lb. chuck roast today and since it's going to be 112° here later today, I anticipate having a similar problem. I may switch to the Instant Pot or oven to finish after 2-3 hours of smoke with the Traeger set to 150°.
