Whey the spring feet on the DC?

Why dd they put the springy feet on the bottom of the Davy Crockett? Anybody know?

 I find them annoying as heck.
My guess is they are there because they are meant to "travel". It would keep everything a little better in place I suppose.
Not sure if that is why but it is all I could figure out anyway?
