The future of delivery is now!
« on: August 29, 2020, 12:34:57 PM »

My daughter is starting her graduate work at Bowling Green University in Ohio. We were driving around campus and saw several little robot cars crusing along the sidewalks. Come to find out students can download an app and get food from their meal plan delivered in these robot coolers. They go most anywhere on campus and in the downtown area. The delivery fee is $1.99.

Seems like a cool idea, but you gotta wonder what keeps someone from stealing the food, or the robot for that matter.

College kids would not do that.

Here is a video link that goes into some more detail on how it works.

College kids today must have a lot more money than I did to pay $2 to have a meal delivered.  But maybe that is hwy there is so much student loan debt.

I have to say that is pretty neat.
Cheaper than typing a delivery guy.

Plus the service charge, a percentage of the bill.
On the plus side, you don't have to tip the robot.

We were in Madison Wi in Early February and were walking around campus and saw all those little things zooming around, crossing streets, waiting for traffic, etc.  Lots of curious people looking at them and getting in the way to make it stop, back up, and go around them (including me).   I actually followed one to see the delivery process completed.   So glad they didn’t have this when I was in college, the freshman 15 would have been the freshman 50 if I didn’t need to even walk to go get my food.
