Peach Pie Time of Year
« on: July 13, 2023, 02:37:08 PM »

Neighbor has a peach tree that always produces more peaches than he can handle. And it hangs over the fence between us.

In appreciation I always make several peach pies for him.
On the Memphis Pro.  Start out at 450 then lower to 375 after 10 minutes for another 30 or so until done.
Foil around the edges is removed with 10 minutes left.  Keeps the edges from getting burned.

Nice!   I made some peach cobbler with ours.
Just need a good scoop of ice cream to go with it.   :lick:

I purchase premade pie crusts that you unroll.

Recipe
About 8-10 peaches
Place in boiling water for a couple minutes and the skin comes right off.
Slice peaches and cover with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
For the mixture:
1/2 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of salt.

Mix the above with the peaches then pour into pie pan.

Life does not get better than eating a warm piece of peach pie with some ice cream. I should get my mom's recipe. It was always very good, and I think it is very simular to yours. Peaches haven't quite started coming in yet in my neck of the woods. This is a good reminder to be ready when they do!
