Your Personal Brisket Serving Size
« on: October 17, 2017, 07:11:04 AM »

The question was posed "Just how much Brisket do you consume" resulting in quite a discussion. So I commented I know how to get the facts from
one of the best sources available, Pellet Fan members. I know you probably don't weigh your portions, but best educated guess, how many ounces of Brisket do you think you eat when you eat your own brisket at home.

As a general rule, I only fix a brisket about once a year.   We have a large gathering and there's beef ribs, pork ribs, turkey and so many condiments that eating just brisket would throw the whole meal experience off a tad.   I like to sample everything on the premises that  afternoon.  :lick: Maybe not the turkey cause I do turkey about 5-6 times a year. (SWMBO's favorite.)

I was gonna say 1/2, as in “of the brisket”

I love a well cooked brisket!

Ha... that's about right.  Basically I eat it almost until I can't eat no more.  I cook one maybe 2 or 3 times a year

I do brisket about every 6 months. Once done I slice off in about 1/2lb sections, vacuseal and freeze. Then we pull out what we need and warm it up in a hot pot of water. :)

I'm usually about 6-8 oz flat plus 6-8 oz point, unless I made burnt ends then that number could be skewed a bit.  :pig: :lick:

Are we talkin' the whole day when the brisket is served. If so, then I'm probably good for 20 oz. or so. I usually serve brisket with mac & cheese, plus a vegetable (broccoli, greens, etc.). There's usually a pie or cake after, too. We usually have friends and family over, playing games and hanging out. We run fairly late, so at some point in the evening, I break out the scotch and a leftover brisket raid ensues. If I make burnt ends, the number goes up, and I've been making them every time, lately.

Just your personal consumption for one meal.
