$100 would be a great price. MAK is $300.

At $100 I would be a buyer. I want to order the cover but I am holding off to see if I want to order any other products after the announcement. Depending on the price of the new mini I may be a buyer for that as well and sell my Traeger Junior.

Rumor I heard is that the Wifi controller for $100 might actually be the entire shelf and all.  Do not quote me on that as it may not be true, but it was one of the rumors.

I take it you are an Iphone user?  Droid is getting no love on it yet, least not as of lastnight when I looked.

Interesting. They sell the stainless shelf now with the standard controller for $150.

IOS app says "monitor the temperature of two meat probes" so I guess we know how many probes will be built in.

Now I need to drill a hole for the temp probes.

Yours doesn't have the little stainless flap on the side for probes?

I'm curious if the second probe is going to feed through where the existing probe is fed through?

What do you mean? The only probe in the 680 is the RTD.. The new controller will have two food probes that plug into the front of the controller, is my guess.

I believe he means going into the barrel and into the meat. The new rt680 have a hole drilled for a probe. He was wondering if two would fit in it.

I would not bother.  I had that with my previous brand grill.  Had to thread them thru the hole every time start or stop a cook.  honestly more of a pain than a help, I just did not realize it until I tried the old fashioned way.

RecTec did not have that, I now find it much easier taking things in/out of the grill now.  I can put probes in while in the house and walk out with them ready to plugin.  Just let wires go out the door and plug into device.  Same with at end of cook, pull onto platter, unplug wires and walk into house.  Probes have to be cleaned anyways, so might as well bring in when you bring food in, one less thing to forget outside.  At this point, if I bought a new grill and it had a probe port, I would not use it.

There is a Rec Tec owners Facebook page and there were some more details after yesterday’s announcements. The WiFi is a simple swap out. No new shelf required. It fits in the existing opening. A couple people got free beta testing units and posted about their experience. The display is backlit and Xtreme Smoke kicks in automatically on Lo.

There is also an easy to acces adjustment menu to make changes to feed rate and temp offset.

I’m curious how well the display will function in cold weather. LCD displays tend to respond very slowly in the extreme cold.
