What form of wood is used in a unit like that? e.g. chips, shavings, chunks...

I usually use small chunks and or chips depending on how long of a cook I do. It only needs an ounce or two and, easy to over do it. The nice thing is with the winters around here, before I moved it was outside under a covered picnic pavilion it cooked just as well in 10° as it did in 100°. They are a humid cooker, max temp of 250°. I have done about 35# of butts in it and that is stuffing it full.

This is it, mine is about 16 years old and is not SS outside but black.

I use it mostly for the overnight cooks and the pellet cookers for most other things anymore, If I were to put one of the pellet cookers in the driveway, I doubt it would be there in the morning. I can tell a difference in smoke flavor between the two types of cookers

Wow!  I know Larry use to sell them for Cookshack and said they could be very overpowering if you did not operate them correctly.  I had no idea it was that small an amount!

Yes, you can oversmoke with a "smoker". I had one in 2008 and replaced it in2010 with a pellet grill for higher temps.

Thanks, I sold my place at the lake so I had to add to the deck at home so I could still entertain.

A pre-owned Rec Tec Mini I lucked into. It had only been used a couple of times when its owners decided they needed something bigger.

I entered the pellet cooking world with a Rec Tec 680 and love the pit, although between work and family obligations have not used as much as I would like lately.  Had to make freezer space, so took a brisket flat out yesterday for a long cook on Sunday.  I also still own a Weber Genesis gasser.

Blaz'n Grand Slam! I also have a small electric smoker and an offset stick burner. I haven't used either since I bought the pellet grill. Big fan of pellet grills!

Did you find that you can cook everything you were on the Rec Tec on the Copperhead?

I mainly use my GMG DB.  The Copperhead 5 is way too big for just the two of us.  I will use it when I need to do a lot meat.  While traveling in my motorhome I use the Traeger Junior.
