SAUCE - What to buy
« on: May 06, 2018, 12:37:59 PM »

My favorite BBQ sauce is my own. Often on a Saturday afternoon the kitchen area has a heavy aroma similar to a cheap BBQ dive, as the home concoction simmers away.

But there are occasions where I need to pick up some   Q sauce  at the local grocery store. And this topic only applies to the typical grocery store variety. I'll list my favorite and ask you to reply with yours. We'll do another topic down the road for the specialty sauce that you buy online - like Cookshack or Head Country, or whatever. These replies are for the grocery store stuff.

OK   My go-to-favorite at the grocery store is

Bullseye Original   (Yes, it's a Kraft product)

Bullseye is pretty good.

Stubb's and open pit seem to be the ones I pick up the most at the grocery. Stubbs for beef, and open pit for everything else.

Sweet Baby Rays goes on everything very well. I also enjoy Famous Dave's especially the "Devils Spit".

Yeungling is my current favorite. I sometimes find it at Publix.

   :rotf:

Our preference is a combination/mix of Cherry Republic Original Cherry BBQ Sauce and Stubbs Original.
(no HFCS)

I like Stubbs Original for beef.  Bone Suckin' Sauce is a favorite although I'm not sure if its a national brand.  But its a standard offering in all grocery stores in the Carolinas.

I was on a competition team and we placed 2nd in ribs at an event using a 50/50 mixture of Sticky Fingers Memphis Original and Sweet Baby Rays Original.  We used it out of necessity due to lack of supplies (poor planning).  Pure luck with that showing.

Sweet Baby Ray's "ORIGINAL". I find their other flavours not as good.

I'm always trying new sauces (for when I don't feel like making my homemade) and I like some of the Stubbs, Sweet Baby Rays, and Famous Dave's sauces mentioned. However I've recently found this sauce and have really liked it and actually gone through a couple bottles over last couple months:

Wee Wiley's Original.  He won the Jack Daniels with it back in 2002 I believe.

Have not tried some of these.  Would love to see some reviews in our member review section for sauces.  It would be a great benefit to the members!!

my favorite is my grandmothers sauce with chicken.

Store bought is like most, Sweet Baby Rays and Stubbs Moppin Sauce and Anytime Sauce.  (different than the Stubbs BBQ sauce).
