After considerable review of pits and prices, decided on the Stampede 590 as a gift for both of my kids families.  My son has had a Traeger Lil Tex for several years and is a skilled BBQ comp. team member.  His team "3 Guys Smokin" has retired after 25 + years of competing, teaching, catering etc.  They were using both sticks and pellets in their last few years. He uses his Traeger at least 3 times a week.  My daughter's husband is a Charcoal expert who has recently been interested in the pellet poopers but has never used one.  Each was looking for a new pellet grill so after some research and advice, and with a price range at under or at $1000, we have picked the RecTec 590 Stampede.  Hard to beat 304 SS body, grates, drip pan, deflector, and fire pot.  Rust should never be a problem. Got a little perk for ordering 2 units at once (cover and pellets), and ordered both the louver vent covers, and sear kits (AKA GrillGrates with spatula).  The kids are very excited, as am I.  Delivery hopefully before 10/1.  I am impressed with how they handle and ship their orders (free shipping via commercial freight).  Will report on the units when they arrive etc.  I still have my Blaz'n GS which will outlast me.

Kidding aside, that's VERY kind of you! No doubt they'll love it. I'm loving my Stampede. Brisket, awesome. Ribs, delectable. Pork butt, da bomb.com. Did chicken fajitas on it tonight with the sear plates, onions, peppers, and chicken all at once.

Quick turn around.  Both units shipped today.  One week after order.  More to follow.

First unit arrived today at son's house.  Nicely packed on pallet, no damage.  I missed the unboxing but assembly easy. Now up and running!  Second unit will be delivered this afternoon.  GrillGrates and Pellets hopefully on the second delivery.

Burn in went well.  Very impressed with the quality of the build and attention to detail.  The GrillGrates ordered with this were not delivered with this unit.  Suspect I will get both sets when the other unit is delivered this PM to Son-In-Law this PM.  (Long story, but the units were put on the local truck in reverse order than planned, so suspect the pellets and GGs are with the 2nd unit).  More to follow.

GrillGrates not present with the second unit either.  Called Rec Tec. Immediate positive response and two "sear kits" are on the way as we speak. Meanwhile, the second unit set up completed with easy burn in at 400*. (below)  First cook of Steak, Salmon, shrimp and bacon wrapped asparagus done on first unit all at once at 450.  Would liked to have seen that but was not invited!

Kids will be kids .  Very nice pits indeed.  I switched over to the bull just minutes from ordering, but know I probably should've went with the Stampede based on my cooks and head count.  Both are great pits though.
