Yeah, they've been losing money on them for years. A year or so back they issued a press release saying that they are committed to maintaining that price as they feel that dual career families rely on them.
I periodically drive past the slaughtering facility construction site. It's huge and makes visible progress. There was some opposition to their building it at their chosen location. Nearby residents were worried about the odor, strain on the water and sewage system and traffic. Some were opposed because they felt that the slaughtering operation would result in the building of a concentration of poultry farming facilities that would add to pollution.
