Thanks to all the first responders this Holiday season
« on: December 28, 2018, 09:16:20 AM »

Just wanted to say thanks to all first responders for there service.

We had Christmas dinner at our house this year and both our boys and in-laws were able to make it. My youngest son is a volunteer for the Harrisburg Oregon fire department. We twice had to put things on pause wile he went on a call. The first one didn't take to long but when the second tap came across his phone he leaped out of the chair and said it will be awhile as he ran out the door. It ended up being his first water rescue call sense getting his swift water rescue certification. He had to jump into the Willamette river in the dark with a rope hooked to him and find a women that fell into the water. He located her and he waited with her until the rescue boat got launched(van was blocking boat ramp, had to push out of the way) and they were able to get her out of the water.

He lives  down the street from us and every time the fire alarms I think of him. But this day things really hit home when you see him jump and run out the door made me really think about all the volunteers or paid responders. The sacrifices they give to help others.

Thank you all.

Please add our thanks.  So often we take for granted the services and sacrifices our first responders make to keep us safe
